I really enjoyed this book. It's a light cream-puff, a pleasant story of finding the right person from a male's viewpoint.Philadelphian Eli reluctantly agrees to take care of his sister's tiny dog (Tiger) while she's in London for six months. After all, his girl friend's left to housesit for her grandmother in California for a few months so he'll probably enjoy Tiger's company.
Then he discovers his girl friend isn't housesitting like she told him. She's shacked up with a rock star.
His friends (who never liked her) gather around to cheer him up. They all have trouble connecting with women except one, and he's about to get married. While they're hovering, Tiger escapes and is found in a bunch of adoring females. It's immediately obvious that chicks dig the little dog.
A lot of other stuff happens, but the theme is Tiger's matchmaking abilities. She fearlessly zooms in on the right girl for the right boy and well...
I would have given it four stars except for the editing. Things like its instead of it's and two verbs stuck together (be have) and things like that. While some people say it's the story that matters, little things like this unconsciously stop my reading, taking me out of the story while I figure out why.
But this is a cute read for anyone willing to spend a couple of hours being entertained.

I was impressed with Kathryn Ardell's ability to write male dialog so well. I'm a guy, and I felt very at home with her handling of that dialog.
I was originally drawn to the book by one simple thing the cover. Oddly, that very sentiment is what the story evolves around, how people are drawn to the dog, "Tiger." A cat's name for a dog? Go figure. What really struck me about the cover is there is no print on it, just a photo, very unusual. I'm currently considering the cover for my next book, so it is a hot topic with me at the moment.
As others have posited here, the story is actually a good read, be you female or male. The story moves along well and, something I really like, it is plausible. Fiction is not something I read much of, primarily because most of it is just so over-the-top. Reading this story, I felt as if I was one of the friends, on the periphery, almost a participant. Ardell's writing is very good and she is especially strong on dialog.
Tiger is lovable and is a testament to how an animal can bring people together. It made me recall all of the times I've met new people just out walking the dog. Of course this is a love story, and most of those "new people," are people of the opposite sex.
If you're looking for a light, fun, love story, you could do worse. Check this one out and just enjoy the read, I did.
Eli is a young professional, engaged to be married (in fact, he's the first in his group of good male friends to contemplate marriage). Everything is going swimmingly ... or is it? His fiance has been taking care of family business clear across the country and he wants her back home - now. In the midst of all this his sister begs Eli to dog-sit her little dog for a few months.
Enter Tiger, a two-pound Papillon. And she's a cutie. Yes ... this little girlie dog is named Tiger.
Tiger appears to have some magical qualities. Is she really a chic magnet?
While this book is lots of fun - a pure delight to read - many of the characters begin to take a look at themselves, their relationships, and what they want out of life. It just might make YOU think a little bit, too.
The story is told from the male perspective and Kathryn Ardell certainly has a good grasp of the male psyche. I gave this to my son to read and he enjoyed it, too. He said, "Mom, the author really knows guys, huh? )
Ardell has also managed to take an old story and give it some new twists. It's a quick read and you won't want to put it down because you won't want to wait to find out how things turn out for Eli, Bob, Rick, Vinny, Daisy, Li and, of course, Tiger.
I bought this little gem of a book yesterday. Honestly, it was free and I was bored on a rainy Saturday. Besides, I have my own little four-pound chick magnet [or so my sons tell me], so the title caught my eye. The synopsis and the reviews sounded okay and, hey, it was free! So I took a chance and I'm really glad I did. This was a very enjoyable little romantic tale and it kept me entertained.
Let me tell you what I liked about it
(1) I liked the way the author handled her characters, building them and letting us get to know and love [or hate] them. Now, you may not think that's really important, but I'll tell you, in a romance novel/romantic story, you shouldn't spend most of the book wanting to slap the main character into the middle of next week...and believe me, more than a few times I've had that urge with some. The characters weren't "deep," but the author did a good job of getting you "into their heads" and making you like them.
(2) It moved right along. Not too much agonizing, not too much description. The author got to the point and kept the story flowing.
(3) The sex in the story didn't overwhelm the tale. It was just a natural part of what was going on, not in-your-face "Look at me, I can write a sex scene!"
Now I'll tell you what I found wrong with it
(1) There are some grammar and spelling errors. These weren't bad enough to really distract me from the story, but saying "would of" instead of "would have [or would've]" is one of my pet peeves.
(2) It needs a little editing. The version I got had repeated sentences/phrases and out-of-place words all through it, which doesn't give a professional appearance to the book and at one point it got a bit confusing.
(3) The biggest problem I had with it The "villain" was two dimensional. But that may have been a function of the length of the book, not the author's capabilities.
Finally Is this great literature? No. But if you want to while away a couple of hours on a rainy weekend, BUY THIS BOOK! And I really hope the author keeps on writing, because this one was very enjoyable.
