Written by a former 75th Ranger Regiment soldier, this guide will take you inside the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program and the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Program to teach prospective Special Operations soldiers the ins and outs of each unit's selection program. As someone who also runs a train-up program for soldiers going into the military on Ranger and Special Forces contracts, Marty is uniquely suited to write a program of instruction which walks would-be Special Operations troops through the course and tells them how to get from A to B and achieve their goals in the Special Operations community.
Filled with entertaining anecdotes and an insider's knowledge, this is a must-read for prospective rangers and armchair military enthusiasts everywhere.

Well researched and presented, almost as if the book were a military manual. Good information on the Rangers in Vietnam. Toughest thing I ever had to go through in my life, I still use some of the training that I received there in early 1971 and I'm an old man! Three things I wanted most after graduation, A Warm Bed, Cold Beer and Bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken!!!

Ranger Knowledge The AllInclusive Study Guide for Rangers SOFREP eBook Erik Larsen Jack Murphy Brandon Webb Reviews

Good book, really for rangers, not for us civilian armchair wannabe's. But good info. For example, most of us will never work with ranger radios.
This book is a must read for anyone that is going to try for the scroll. Read it. Memorize it. Live it.
Excellent really informative for the next generation of soldiers and rangers about what it takes to be the best, RLTW !!!
I didn't have the same experiences "post" Ranger Course as the author of this book, but all the information contained was great. This is a good read for any soldier. Too much information never hurt anyone.
This is a must have if you're an Army infantryman. A lot of knowledge distilled in to one small book.
From the Foreword

"It should be noted that this manual is not meant to prepare you for the Army's premier leadership course - Ranger School, but for the nation's premier special operations direct action raid force - the 75th Ranger Regiment. There is some material that is applicable in both places, but those getting ready for Ranger School would be best served by sticking to the Ranger Handbook."

84 pages () of concise detailed data. Not illustrated. Well-written. Comprehensive.

There seems very little that this Ranger guide does not cover! Would very much appreciate this guide being made available on hardcopy so I can carry it around in my backpack and impress my friends with my new-found ability to tell them to "Kee-nah" (sit down) in Pashto. Yes, the guide even includes a few key words in Pashto and Arabic.

I especially appreciated the MOS list and the acronym list. There is a great section on the history of the Rangers. If you like to mark-up and highlight your books then you will find it hard to avoid highlighting this entire guide from cover-to-cover.

As a would-be "armchair military enthusiast" this was a great start for learning more about Rangers. I was able to read it straight through without having to stop and look something up either online or in a different book. Also includes information on weapons, combat tactics (in a list format; no theory), unit insignias and symbolism etc.

I bought this guide on after reading about it on SOFREP dot com (see also RangerUp dot com).

Other books I've read include "Lone Survivor", "No Easy Day", "American Sniper" and "Reflexive Fire". (Haven't yet read "The Red Circle" or "Sua SponteThe Forging of A Modern American Ranger" but they're on my reading list.)

Please note that I am not an Army Ranger nor am I in the military.
I chose a 5 star rating because a mentor of mine suggested this material prior to endeavoring on future professional developmental opportunities in the military. This book far exceeded the expectations i had and what i was told i would receive. This is a recommendation for all those option 40 and soldiers inquiring about the 75th. Well done! If it was in paperback, i would buy it again in that form so i can have it in places where mobiles are forbidden for use.
